Friday 26 September 2025
We’re getting married, and you’re invited.
Ever since we first locked eyes over the stable walls at Haunui Farm, dirt caking our sweaty faces and pooper scoopers in hand, it was love at first sight. Or close enough, anyway. Now we’re tying the knot, and we’d love for you to join us in the sunny Austrian Alps this September.

Your accommodation at the Almwelt will be a room within a small chalet, which you may be sharing with people you know.

We encourage you to carpool if possible, but please get in touch with Tasch as soon as possible if this leaves you stuck, and we can help you organise a ride back to town. (Please don’t leave this to the night of, or you may find yourself in a very expensive taxi home.)
Gifts
No gifts needed. We appreciate the huge effort some of you will make to be there, so rest assured your presence is more than enough.
Overnight stay at Guttenberghaus
Saturday 27 September
Overnight hike + hut stay
You are warmly invited to join us the night after the wedding for an overnight hike and stay at Guttenberghaus. This typically takes around 2-3 hours, depending on fitness levels. This will need to be booked in advance, so please contact Tasch if you’re keen to join.
The starting location is Hotel Feistererhof in Ramsau am Dachstein. There is a car park here with paid overnight parking, please bring cash for this. We will have someone at the car park to collect any bags you don’t want to take with you, and we will store these for you overnight. More details to follow.
Please note, water is limited at the hut, so please bring enough with you for the hike up and down.
Accommodation has been discounted to €25 each - make sure to thank Tasch’s generous uncle when you get up there! This may be paid at the hut on the day (providing you have booked in advance through Tasch). Food and drink are not included, but the hut has a bar and restaurant with a delicious Austrian menu. For our Kiwi friends, please note it’s generally not kosher to bring your own food to eat in the hut.
Pillows and bedding will be provided at the hut, but please note that European hut etiquette means you’ll need a sleeping liner, sheet, or sleeping bag to use these.
There are hikes and Via Ferrata routes starting at the hut for those who would like to hike the next day, but please make sure you understand the skills and risks involved, always check and respect the weather, and bring your own Via Ferrata gear if needed. This can be hired from Ramsau or Schladming.
More details on the hike to Guttenberghaus here.
If you would like to join and have not already discussed this with Tasch, please get in touch ASAP.
When in Ramsau
SUNDAYS
Please be aware that supermarkets and shops are closed on Sundays, with (very) few exceptions in Schladming. This means you will need to organise food for Sunday before the hike to Guttenberghaus.
There are so many amazing walks and hikes in both Ramsau and Schladming to enjoy during your stay. A few of our favourites are:
Südwandhütte
Approx 1 hr walk, mostly flat with a gradual incline. You’ll start at the top of the Dachstein road (from the gondola car park), and walk across to a beautiful hut and restaurant in the mountains with lovely views.Rittisberg
There are several different hiking and walking trails at Rittisberg right in town, from family-friendly to more challenging routes.Other hiking and walking trails
Check out the link above for more hiking and walking trails around Ramsau am Dachstein.Dachstein Glacier
Most people will get a summer card free with your accommodation, which includes one gondola ride up to the Dachstein glacier. The gondola starts at the top of the Dachstein road, and the views from the top are unreal - make sure it’s on your list if possible!
CLIMBING
If the weather allows, we will set up a climbing wall one day at Türlwandhütte. Please let Jasper know if you’re keen to join - you’ll need to bring your own harness, shoes and helmet, which can also be hired from town. We’ll provide the rest.
VIA FERRATA
There are some great Via Ferrata routes around for those that are keen. You can hire Via Ferrata gear in town, but please make sure to do this safely and know your limits. If you don’t have much (or any) experience with Via Ferrata, make sure to go with someone who knows what they’re doing, and start with easier grades (A is easiest) before working your way up.
WEATHER + CLOTHING
For any outdoor pursuits, please make sure you check the weather ahead of time and prepare accordingly. Conditions can change quickly in the mountains, so always prepare to be surprised and respect that the mountains can be dangerous.
Please note it can be cold at this time of year - last year there was a surprise snow in the hills around this time, where the year before felt like summer.
When hiking in the mountains, always bring a few extra layers, including warm midlayers, a warm outer jacket, long pants, a rain jacket, appropriate footwear, and extra food in case of an emergency. Trail or hiking shoes are typically required, though running shoes will suffice for smaller walks.
Always make sure someone in town knows where you are and when to expect you back.
Questions?
If you have any further questions, please get in touch with Tasch or Jasper before the week of the wedding. From that point on, you’re on your own ;)
